Family Photography in Guanacaste, Costa Rica
FAMILY VACATIONS, REUNIONS, SUNSET SESSIONS, AND ALL THE MOMENTS IN BETWEEN.
Every family has a story worth remembering. Whether you're bringing everyone together for a long-awaited reunion, celebrating a special milestone, traveling with grandparents, or simply making the most of your Costa Rica vacation, we want your session to feel easy, relaxed, and true to your family.
Some of our favorite photographs come from the moments that happen naturally: children running barefoot on the beach, grandparents with their grandchildren, siblings laughing together, or everyone simply enjoying a beautiful evening in Costa Rica. We'll guide you when needed, but we also leave plenty of room for those in-between moments that make each family different.
We photograph families throughout Guanacaste and Peninsula Papagayo, including Four Seasons Costa Rica, Andaz Costa Rica, Nekajui, Playa Conchal, Flamingo, Tamarindo, Las Catalinas, Hacienda Pinilla, and surrounding beaches and resorts. Whether you're staying at a hotel, private villa, or vacation home, we can help plan your session around where you're staying, the best light, and the location that works best for your family.
The goal is simple: beautiful photographs that feel natural and bring you back to the time you spent together in Costa Rica.

FAQ
01.
What is the best time for family photos in Costa Rica?
For family photography in Costa Rica, we usually recommend a late-afternoon session that ends around sunset. The exact start time depends on the time of year and your location in Guanacaste, since not every beach has a direct sunset view. Once we know where you're staying, we'll recommend the best timing and location for the light.
02.
How long is a family photography session in Costa Rica?
Most of our family photography sessions last around 60 minutes. This gives us enough time for family portraits, smaller groupings, individual photographs, and natural moments without making the session feel long, especially for families traveling with young children.
03.
What should we wear for family photos at the beach?
Light, comfortable clothing works beautifully for beach family photos in Costa Rica. We recommend soft neutrals, earthy colors, pastels, and natural fabrics that complement the tropical landscape. Rather than dressing everyone exactly alike, choose a coordinated color palette that feels natural together.

What happens if it rains during our family photography session?
Can you photograph our family at our Costa Rica resort or vacation rental?
Yes. We photograph large and multigenerational families vacationing throughout Guanacaste. During the session, we'll photograph the entire family together as well as grandparents, individual families, couples, children, and smaller groupings, while leaving plenty of room for candid moments and natural interaction.
Rain is part of Costa Rica's tropical climate, particularly during green season, but a rainy forecast doesn't always mean your session needs to be cancelled. Weather can change quickly in Guanacaste. We monitor the conditions and, when possible, adjust the timing if necessary. Overcast skies can also create beautiful, soft light for family photographs.
